Babalwa Kwanele is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), with over 20 years of professional experience providing mental health services to culturally diverse adults, youth, children, and families. Ms. Kwanele holds a Master’s of Science degree in counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). She has extensively studied the neurobiology of trauma and the effects of racism and poverty on communities, families, individuals, and complex systems. She is a professional trainer, consultant, educator, and curricula designer. Ms. Kwanele is currently a final year doctoral student in Educational Leadership. Ms. Kwanele is passionate about the needs of others, especially those who have suffered great difficulties due to compounded violence and racial marginalization. She lives in the Eastbay and is the mother of three young adult children.
