Position Description

Programs Manager (Part-Time)

Maristan is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Programs Manager to oversee our psychoeducational and community outreach initiatives. This part-time, hybrid Bay Area position is ideal for someone passionate about supporting the mental well-being of Muslim communities through culturally and spiritually congruent care.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of program or nonprofit experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and familiarity with Islamic values and mental health practices.

Duties and Responsibilites

The Programs Manager will perform duties, such as, but not limited to the following:

  • Design, plan, and execute psychoeducational programs and community outreach events in alignment with Maristan’s mission and vision.
  • Oversee day-to-day program operations and ensure timely implementation of project deliverables.
  • Manage team members, volunteers, and program facilitators; support onboarding and training as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, scholars, speakers, and mental health professionals.
  • Track program budgets and expenses; provide internal financial updates and collaborate with the Executive Director and Operations Manager.
  • Conduct regular program evaluations and post-event reviews to ensure quality and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Submit monthly and quarterly reports documenting program performance and impact.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in strategic planning sessions.
  • Represent Maristan at external events, conferences, and community meetings.
  • Contribute to the growth and sustainability of the organization through program development and partnership cultivation.
  • Travel occasionally for in-person events, staff retreats, and partner engagement opportunities.
  • Ensure that all program content is culturally and spiritually congruent for Muslim communities, drawing from or integrating Islamic Psychology frameworks when possible.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, behavioral health, psychology, or a related field is required.
  • Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in program or project management, nonprofit administration, or related roles; 5+ years preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in program design, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience with contract oversight, risk mitigation, and nonprofit budgeting.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financials and outcome tracking systems.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and professional reports, narratives, and correspondence.
  • Must be available to attend some evening and weekend meetings or events.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Residency in the San Francisco Bay Area or surrounding region.
Cultural & Religious Competency
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Islam and Muslim communities, including cultural norms and religious values that impact wellness and care-seeking behavior.
  • Ability to develop and manage programs that are culturally and spiritually congruent with the needs of Muslim populations.
  • Familiarity with or prior exposure to Islamic Psychology is preferred. If not already trained, candidate must be open to receiving training in this area.

Position Description
The Clinician is responsible for providing clinical services to Maristan clients. The individual should embody the organization’s mission and vision. They should be able to prioritize various tasks and responsibilities while working alongside fellow team and board members. This position offers the opportunity to help direct the growth of a nonprofit organization and implement mental health and wellness initiatives that serve our communities.
Duties and Responsibilites

The Clinician will perform duties, such as, but not limited to the following:


  • Provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy through Maristan’s clinic to clients in compliance with individual qualifications.
  • Provide clinical consultations to new Maristan clients as needed but not exceeding one hour weekly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clinical and client information in accordance with HIPAA regulations, ethical standards, and Maristan’s clinical policies.
  • Collaborate with other Maristan clinicians and the clinical team for better clinical outcomes for clients, the clinic, and Maristan overall.
  • Complete a wide variety of administrative tasks as required by the position, including billing, intake, progress notes, and invoicing.
  • Develop and execute client treatment plans.
  • Attend weekly staff and didactic meetings virtually.
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings as required by licensure and Maristan clinic requirements.
  • Attend mandatory training(s) with Maristan’s clinical manager and/or clinical coordinator for at least four weeks, up to one hour per session, to familiarize with Maristan’s clinic policies, Valant EMR, and other related topics.
  • Present at Maristan’s learning circles, healing circles, and/or other speaking engagements that may arise on topics related to Muslim mental health. Maristan clinicians are required to speak at two (2) events throughout the year.
  • Be familiar with Islamic concepts to support providing Islamically-integrated care for Maristan’s Muslim clients.
  • Be familiar with telehealth practices and have access to a private room to render virtual services.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

Technical Knowledge

  • A master’s degree or doctorate in a related field, including social work, marriage and family therapy, professional counseling, counseling psychology, and clinical psychology.
  • Licensed, or holding a license-eligible degree.
    • Maintain professional licensure and standing with practice regulatory bodies and ethics boards.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to commit 15+ hours per week for clinical-related work, including clients, staff meetings, and supervision.
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends with a flexible schedule.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be a resident of the state of California.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
